Tesla Model 3 Long Range (2019)

Suspension noise (squeak), from upper arm.

Suspension noises are common for older Tesla Model 3 cars.

A well known procedure is to inject grease in the ball joint using a needle. Alternatively you can also detach the arm from the ball joint and apply the grease by removing the ring which holds the sleeve around the joint. This, did however not work for fixing my suspension noise.

After we moved the suspenion arm up and down. We noticed that the sound came from the rubber bushings which connect the upper suspension arm to the car. For me it helped to spray silicone spray at those bushings. The noise was gone after driving for about 100 kilometers. It did not return after driving 5000 kilometers.

Coding and adaptations

I prefer using computer over an app like OBD11. So the following worked for me to adjust settings in the car:

Application: VCTool
A DOIP (OBD -> ETHERNET) cable. (Similar to BMW ENET cable)

Make sure to open the hood. Turn the car on and ensure the parking brake is engaged. Then you can connect the tool.
